Food Delivery Settlement App
Developing an app for independent delivery businesses to drive more profits.
This app was designed to help independent delivery business owners quickly understand their profit and loss data while working their routes. The app serves independent owner-operators (IBOs) who partner with a large snack food company.
The app also enables the food company to provide specialized support to help their contractors grow their businesses, allowing them attract and retain high-quality IBOs.

TARGET AUDIENCE
Owner-operators contracted by a snack food company who manage every part of their delivery business.
Independent Broker/Owner-Operators (IBOs), are small business owners who run delivery routes while managing every aspect of their business:
They own/lease delivery vehicles
Purchase inventory upfront
Stock and merchandise products in stores
Review weekly sales and expenses
Need to know week by week, if their route is making money without spending extra time on paperwork
THE CHALLENGE
Business owners lack tools that bring efficiency and clarity to their day-to-day.
Owner-operators often struggle to gauge weekly profitability because:
Financial data is scattered across receipts, credits, and cash sales
Owners lack an easy way to visualize numbers while working
They risk making decisions without clear visibility into the numbers, which can affect their earnings and route planning
APPROACH
STAKEHOLDER ALIGNMENT + UX RESEARCH
To fully understand the business problem and user needs, I first interviewed an active Owner-Operator/IBO, then conducted a discovery workshop with business stakeholders.
Gained a firsthand understanding of an IBO’s daily routines, pain points, business goals, etc
Aligned stakeholders on their goals, assumptions, and desired app features
Identified and prioritized features that would be included in the prototype with stakeholders

SKETCHING + IDEATION
Distilled stakeholder information and user workflows into sections
Structured features into the information architecture
Sketched initial ideas
WIREFRAMING
Created wireframes that translated workflows to interfaces
Decided on Google Material Design system to create a intuitive, consistent UI
Iterating toward a final app interface optimized for mobile
RESULTS
FINAL PRODUCT
The result was a polished mobile app that empowers IBOs to easily track weekly financial performance in real time. They now had a better way to track data and no longer had to rely only on paper records and disconnected software. What was once fragmented and time-consuming was now clear, actionable, and available on the go.
Visually the experience is intentionally simple and structured, allowing IBOs to quickly understand profitability, make informed decisions, and focus on growing the value of their business investment.
